Due to the global popularity of the Tesla Model 3 & Model Y, there are plenty of accessories developed to choose from, including some that add important functionality you may miss from more traditional cars.
They are also generally affordable, and whilst many are available from Amazon, you can generally find them cheaper direct from the source on AliExpress. Shipping may take a bit longer but many have 5-8 day options, which is pretty impressive given it's half way round the world and import tax is calculated/paid at point of purchase, so no shock custom fees.
"But i don't want cheap chinese made tat" - "Um.. you realise your Model 3/Y was likely built in Shanghai, right?!!
A key missing feature for me is Apple Carplay, sorry but Waze is just my go to Nav app. This Carlinkit adapter allows you to get Carplay back on the big screen, in a fashion, by pushing it to the Tesla web browser.
It generally works well, but not quite as integrate as a manufacturer solution. So it does involve checking your wifi is connected to the kit and going to the browser and hitting a favourite. but once there all is well. Just not as effortless as getting in and driving off.
I paid £48.94 including delivery and taxes.
The same box is £83.28 on Amazon with longer delivery times!
Having come from a car where your speed and car info is projected directly on to the windscreen, switching to a Tesla with no Instrument cluster or HUD was a big drawing of breath moment. Particularly with the increase in speed cameras ready to take your license if you do 23 in a 20 zone.
There are plenty of aftermarket clusters, that look very well integrated and designed to connect in to the CAR's OBD wiring seamlessly. I've not seen any projecting HUDs that look as well integrated. But I wanted to have minimal impact on the car interior aesthetic so went with a VJoycar Mini HUD that fits in the ventilation slot and mainly displays the current speed directly ahead. of you.
Works well and find i do check it more than looking down and left at the main display.
I paid £31.76 including delivery and taxes.
The Model Y 19" Gemini wheels, whilst alloy wheels are fitted with a two tone plastic aerodynamically efficient hub cap. The issue is, that whilst relatively cheap to replace from Tesla, they don't do completely to the wheel rim, so you can still curb your wheels and need to replace the cap.
The two tone isn't to everyones taste, so there are plenty of aftermarket options that do cover the wheel to the edge for that extra protection and different colours/styles.
I went for these, and they also came with Tesla Logo badges for the centres. I paid £80.71 including tax & delivery (Mar 24).
For comparison, here they are on Amazon:
